Emily first started skiing at age 4 but focused primarily on gymnastics until age 14 when she decided to prioritize cross-country skiing. She was inspired to dream and train for the Olympics by watching Beckie Scott win bronze (later upgraded to gold) at the Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games in 2002. Emily made her World Cup debut in January 2008 and competed in her first FIS World Championship in 2013. A year later, Emily made her Olympic debut at Sochi 2014. At the Winter Olympic Games in 2018, Emily competed in all six women’s cross-country skiing events.
