James King III joined Classroom Champions in 2020 as the Director of School Partnerships.
James arrives at Classroom Champions having worked at National Geographic Learning / Cengage Learning for six years and at Pearson Education for 10 years before that as a Professional Development and Curriculum material solutions engineer. James first started in education as a Special Education teacher for 5 years in both Pasadena and Pomona, Ca. He taught special day class (SDC) and Resource Pull Out (RSP) in a non-public school setting, 6th – 12th grade continuation school and finally a 6-8 comprehensive Middle School.
James was born in Detroit, Michigan, but raised in Pasadena, Ca. He attended Blair High School and graduated in 1992 before transferring to Ventura Community College where he completed his general education courses with an emphasis in Criminal Justice. After 2 years at Ventura CC, he transferred to the University of California at Riverside, where he received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology. Taking a few years off to find work, get married and start a family, he returned to school at Azusa Pacific University where he received a Master’s in Special Education.
In addition to focusing on education, James is also a former basketball player. Born to a father who was 6’2” and a mother who’s 5’11”, it wasn’t much of a surprise that the 6'6" James went on to become a power forward, winning multiple awards over the years including a State Championship finalist at Ventura Community College and a Division II National Championship finalist at UCR.
