Lauren Gibbs, Bobsleigh athlete

Lauren Gibbs

Lauren Gibbs was a multi-sport athlete while growing up — though originally recruited to run track at Brown University, she became a volleyball player instead. Lauren began bobsledding in 2014 following the Sochi Olympics, when a friend mentioned an open tryout. She made the national team in her first year of sliding. Only four years later, Lauren joined fellow Classroom Champions mentor Elana Meyers-Taylor to win a silver medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in the two-man bobsled!
