Ryan Zhang is a hurdler on the Johns Hopkins University track and field team. After qualifying for high school nationals in the 60m hurdles during his junior year, he earned a spot on the JHU squad, where he now targets the NCAA National Championship. Ryan played soccer, volleyball, and ran cross country in middle school before picking up track. He started as a high jumper and triple jumper before trying hurdles as a high school sophomore, adapting quickly to a brand-new, highly technical event. Ryan uses his story to show students the value of trying new things. He encourages kids to explore different skills, reminding them that unexpected opportunities often come from new experiences.
