Teaching perseverance to students is essential because it equips them with the resilience and determination they need to face challenges and overcome obstacles in their academic and personal lives. At Classroom Champions, we believe that perseverance is a key ingredient for success. When students learn to embrace setbacks as opportunities for growth, they develop the confidence to set ambitious goals and the grit to achieve them.

This topic is always near and dear to me. I grew up in poverty with parents who really struggled in life. I always use this time of the year to share with the students all of the struggles I have overcome in my own life and open up a bit about my story. They know quite a little bit about me but this unit allows students to open up and myself.

Perseverance isn't innate.
Perseverance is a learned behavior that requires intentional teaching and practice. While some students may appear naturally resilient, the ability to persevere is built through guidance, modeling, and opportunities to apply it in real-world situations. At Classroom Champions, we understand that students need explicit lessons to develop their own Champion Mindset. By teaching perseverance, students are able to internalize the belief that effort and persistence lead to improvement. This doesn’t just prepare them for success in school but equips them with a lifelong skill.
